The Neurosurgeon
Duties and Responsibilities:
A neurosurgeon is a physician that specializes in the treatment and diagnosis of medical conditions that affect the spine, brain, peripheral nerves, etc. They perform surgeries, interpret result of the tests, describe the treatment and the process to the patient, must know techniques of microsurgeries, and work well with psychiatrists, therapists, and neurologists.
Salary:
The average annual salary ranges from $400,000 to $600,000.
Education:
The education needed to become a neurosurgeon include, pre-medical programs that cover, biology, chemistry, mathematics, etc. Also 4 completed years of medical schooling, a requirement of 72 months of residency training, licensure and certification needed. Also a doctorate degree.
Demand or Need:
The career opportunities for a neurosurgeon is expected to grow 24 percent from 2010 to 2020.
Reflection:
I believe I would not like to become a neurosurgeon because the fact that it involves surgeries. When I was small I thought I would like to become a doctor and save people's lives but now it grosses me out.
