Operating Room Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operating room technicians are responsible for various pre- intra- and post-surgery duties within a hospital. Each technician is responsible for different type of duties. For example a scrub surgical technologist assists a surgeon by handling all the supplies and equipment during a surgery. A circulating surgical technician monitors what's going on in a surgery and assess the patient. It all depends on what type of surgical technician you are.
Salary:
The average salary ranges from $41,032 to $49, 103. As of February 22, 2017 the median pay was $45, 287.
Education:
To become an operating room technician you need an accreditation from a surgical technology program, earn a high school diploma, and obtain a certification.
Demand or Need:
The job for operating room technicians is projected to grow 15 percent from 2014 to 2024. That is because technology is advancing and more surgeries are being performed.
Reflection:
Even though not much education is needed to become an operating room technician the job does not seem fascinating as much. So I believe I would not like to become one and perform surgeries. Eew.
