Student Success Statement By: Theodore Hesburgh

" My basic principle is that you don't make decisions because they are nasty, you don't make them because they are cheap, and you don't make them because they're popular; you make them because they are right."

Image result for decision
Bad influences are all around us we can either go after them or stay with our own influence, which is doing the right thing always. When you are at a party and they offer you drugs don't say yes because you want to be popular or want to seem cool. Say no because it is the right decision and you know that drugs are bad for you in a variety of ways. besides why make a decision that is considered the easiest route when it can lead you to something worse than taking the hard decision. Sometimes when we choose to do something because it is simple it is usually cheap and has no value. That is why it is better to try your best doing the right thing.

" I Trust That My Hard Work Will Pay Off "
Image result for hard work

Tyler Hawks is a Brigham Young University Basketball Player who has never been a talented player, but worked hard to be the best of him team. He would practice with his dad bright and early in the morning and practice the same shots over and over and over. There was times where he made 143 baskets with no misses. His hard work got him into the 2nd player named Mr.Basketball two times in a row, I guess that's a thing now. However, he was committed to church and god so when he got the opportunity to go to a mission he took it with no doubt. He was able to go to a Philippines mission for two years and become the BYU leading scorer. It is quite true that hard work pays off because all his determination got him to where he is now.
